We are pleased to announce that our article, Fiber Lasers: Raman-scattering-based gas analysis in metallurgy, medical, and food industries, has been published in Laser Focus World. The article came about as a result of an overview of fiber laser applications in gas analysis and includes a range of different uses of spectral methods of analysis in major industry sectors.

The key factors that influence the integration of Raman-scattering-based spectroscopy into the metallurgy, food and medical industries are highlighted in the article, along with several examples of Raman spectroscopy practical uses.

CIM Convention & EXPO Conference

Founded in 1898, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (CIM) is the leading technical society of professionals in the Canadian Minerals, Metals, Materials and Energy Industries.

CIM has always maintained three main objectives:

  • to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology;
  • to foster networking, professional development, and fraternity;
  • to recognize excellence and outstanding achievements in the minerals industry.

The CIM EXPO is Canada's largest mining exhibition, covering all areas of mining from exploration to enrichment of minerals mined. The exhibition was attended by 450 companies, primarily Canadian, as well as from the US and Europe. CIM Convention & EXPO Conference took place from April 30 to May 3, 2017, in Montreal, Canada. Over 6,000 mining industry professionals took part in the events at the Palais Des Congrès De Montréal.

Optromix Company was represented by Sergey Ivanov and Gleb Phillin. Our company was attracted by the opportunity to talk with Canadian gold mining companies. The important participants for our company was Agnico Eagle, Richmont, and Teck.

The main goal of the Optromix company was to attract customers, enhance and maintain a positive corporate image. The Canadian Mining Expo is the great opportunity for mining companies who provide important services such as drilling equipment, trucks, health and safety equipment and procedures, mining exploration technology, and more.

MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2016 is a world of innovation in one place. It is the largest show of its kind in the world and draws a truly international audience representing all major mining regions of the world. MINExpo 2016 had more than 800,000 sq. ft. (74,000 square meters), 12 indoor and outdoor halls and more than 1800 companies.

The mining, metals, and minerals industry are facing challenging times. Owners and operators are feeling the pressure to reduce costs and improving operational efficiencies. Through our expertise and core services, Optromix Company sees the opportunities that exist for the next generation mine.

Global mining industry leaders came together to debate the issues of the day, provide perspectives on industry challenges and share visions and insights for the future. Representatives from our company were Sergei Ivanov and Gleb Phillin. The main objectives of participation in the exhibition were searching for new technology partners and the potential customers.

Optomix Company introduced on the MINExpo 2016 innovative decision in the sphere of gas scrubbing, which European countries actively start using. It is especially important for The USA because system of gas scrubbing allows to save up to 90% of water compared with the traditional wet air scrubbers. Engineering companies drew particular attention on the ability to spend 10 times less water.

During the MINExpo 2016 Optromix received several orders and regain confidence that the new wet air scrubber technology is supposed to make the air cleaner and safer.

Power Plant Pollutant Control and Carbon Management “MEGA” Symposium

Baltimore, MD August 16-19, 2016


The Mega Symposium integrated four key industry players – the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA). The eleventh MEGA Symposium was focused on new operational and environmental challenges for power plants. The 2016 MEGA provided a forum for sharing approaches, successes, and challenges complying with these regulations in light of the changing mission of fossil-fueled electric generating units, as well as technology options for compliance with the Clean Power Plan.

Recognizing the maturity of control technologies for criteria pollutants and the advanced development status of controls for MATS species, the 2016 MEGA actualized early experience and lessons learned from initial compliance with recent environmental regulations for power plants, especially hazardous air pollutants, and their holistic management by considering the associated liquid and solid discharges. The 2016 MEGA gathered together powerproducer managers, engineers, environmental researchers, early career industry professionals, equipment suppliers and government agency managers.

Optromix Co. was interested in attracting technology partners with the purpose of alignment scrubber technology to the USA standards. Optromix also explored the wet air scrubber application experience on the coal power stations and promoted technology among scientists. Company established development relations with key partners and attracted new interest parties.

Biggest IEEE PES T&D Conference & Exposition Dallas, Texas May 2-5, 2016


More than 700 companies and thousands of professionals took part in the biggest T&D conference and exposition in the industry at Dallas. Leading power industry companies came together in order to share new ideas and the emerging technologies and products that will shape energy solutions for years to come.

The theme of this year’s show was “Go Big,” and reflected the size of the show and a mind-set for the current state of the industry.

The conference opened at the AT&T stadium Monday evening. There was a marching band, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, pyrotechnics, lots of food, challenging games of skill on the sidelines, and it was a good possibility to meet with old and new friends. The next three days were all business. There were thousands of utility professionals walking around inspecting all the wares the vendors brought.

Optromix Company demonstrated Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system. DTS allows to detect temperature increases at the controlled assets and send “alarm” signals to the monitoring equipment to prevent overheating before it can happen. A large number of transformers companies showed an interest in DTS solutions for transformers. We had many discussions with the exhibitors and some companies offered cooperation with us. Optromix was concentrated on searching new partners, customers, and producers of power cables. Also, we were looking for engineering and emergency monitoring companies.

Through much of the conference, the exhibit hall was full of activity. Many of the exhibiting companies held information sessions providing lively, detailed explanations about products. Visitors will be able to see innovative solutions to prepare for the future. It was also a great place to make important contacts and meet the movers and shakers of the T&D industry.

2016 IEEE PES Insulated Conductors Committee Meeting Fort Lauderdale, Florida, April 3-6, 2016


IEEE, a large, global technical professional organization, is dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities, IEEE is the trusted voice on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.

A Technical Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) within the Power and Energy Society (PES) has world-class experts within its ranks that not only develop standards and guides, but also provide opportunities to learn about new innovations, share technical knowledge and find solutions to vexing problems. The Insulated Conductors Committee's mission is to continuously improve the fundamental technological understanding, practical application, and safe use of conductors having applied insulation or coverings.

Spring 2016 PES-ICC Meeting was conducted at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. The conference was attended by utilities, laser manufacturers, consultants, and academia, all with the desire develop standards and to improve insulated conductors, their installation, and their long-term operation.

Optromix Company was interested in searching new projects where it is possible to use our DTS system, fiber sensors and where we can being as vendors. We established contacts with our near exhibitors and presented Distributed Temperature sensing system. We founded many projects where we can take a part, such as Intelligent Undergrounding, consulting utilities and hydropower plant monitoring.

SME 2016 Exhibition, Phoenix, Arizona 23-24 February 2016


SME Annual Conference & Expo is one of the leading international mining conferences that bring together the largest organizations and brightest minds representing the mining industry around the world. Despite the complicated economic climate for the mining industry, more than 6,300 people joined SME for its 2016 Annual Conference and Expo in Phoenix. SME organized this conference and exhibition for the industry to share knowledge, network with peers and learn about the best products and practices. The sold out exhibit hall had 842 booths and 625 vendors and more than 100 technical sessions.

SME ACE 2016 was an excellent opportunity to meet mining organizations on the forefront of developing innovative mining technology, mining practices, and contracting methods. The exhibit hall was the perfect place to introduce and learn new trends. We had a great opportunity to present our company, obtain new sales leads and learn more about our target market. We emphasized few customers for prospective work.

It was engineering companies, equipment manufacturers, contractors in coal, iron and aluminium industries. Also, we met participants that earlier had conversations with Optromix in St. L​o​u​i​s exhibition last year. They were amazed at our progress! Exhibitors became interested in our offers of flue gas desulphurization (FGD) and leach process. Besides, our company presented the ways of coal and ore loading aspiration and described the new process of wet air scrubbing to concerned persons.

TMS 2016 Exhibition, Nashville,Tennessee 15-16 February, 2016


The TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition brings together more than 4,000 business leaders, engineers, scientists, and other professionals and students from around the world. The exhibition is focused on the latest advancements in research of minerals, metals and material fields. The main goal is to promote networking and exchange of technical knowledge that should lead to creating new collaborations, innovations and different solutions in the workplace and in the society. The TMS annual meeting participants discussed various aspects of the metals industry, including materials testing and characterization as well as current and emerging materials. The exhibition held at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Our project with RUSAL Company attracted interest of exibition participants. We installed Scrioiler for flue gas desulphurization (FGD). It was a very effective project and RUSAL ordered several more Scroilers for industrial air cleaning and air pollution controlRUSAL has more than 40 assets in 19 countries across 5 continents. The company plans to set up our Scrioilers in their facilities all over the world. We described in details our experience with RUSAL to the participants of the exhibition.

The exhibition was a low-key event and had about 97 exponents. But still, not less than 11 of them grabbed our attention. They were equipment manufacturers and primarily engineering companies, focused on aluminium smelting and dust scrubber. Optromix came into contact with many companies that could be our potential distributors and technical partners. We are always ready to work with new partners.

Power-Gen/ Coal-Gen Exhibition, Las Vegas, Nevada 8-10 December, 2015


In December 2015, Optromix took part in the Power-Gen/Coal-Gen Exhibition in Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada. The Power-Gen/Coal-Gen Exhibition attracts manufacturers of equipment and solutions for energy from all over the US. More than 1,400 exhibiting companies from every sector of the power generation industry showed their products and services on the exhibit floors in Las Vegas Convention Center.

The exhibition had about fifteen hundred participants! Sergei Ivanov, CEO, and Gleb Philin, project manager, represented Optromix at the exhibition. Our company was focused on researching partners and customers. Our exhibition product was demonstrated on the COAL-GEN exhibit floor. COAL-GEN is the industry’s most dynamic event covering the latest topics affecting the design, development, upgrading, operation and maintenance of coal-fueled power plants. COAL-GEN focuses on the solutions of today and the technologies of tomorrow.

We presented our innovative product – Scroiler. This unit demonstrates the new effective way to perform wet air scrubbing. Scroiler worked in closed water circuit for about 20 minutes during the exhibition. After these 20 minutes, the faucet water was colored in light brown , because of the dust particles floating in the air. And we collected this dust! Our product innovation catches the interest among most of the participants, especially in atendees from Middle East. Scroiler doesn't require the high water quality. You can use different types of water. Scroiler can perform air scrubbing depending on pollution composition. After the exhibition, demonstration model was transported to Boston. We are ready to arrange and organize the presentation of Scroiler if you are interested to see how it works.

Coal Handling & Storage Conference & Exhibition, St. Louis, Missouri 5-7 October , 2015


Coal Handling & Storage is the only conference focused on the unique problems and opportunities faced by coal producers, railroads, ports, power plants and many others who store and handle this critical resource. For operating companies, the conference sessions provided a valuable way to stay up to date with the latest technologies and to network with others who may have different perspectives. The exhibition provided an opportunity for buyers and sellers to exchange information about the latest equipment and services available in our industry. Optromix was interested ​to get acquainted with engineering projects. Our company tried to find companies that are willing to use our equipment for air scrubbing. Also, we analyzed the market situation and tried to find distributors, representatives, and customers who were ready to use our way of air pollution control.

Optromix representatives had meetings with different companies, such as ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc., Cogar Manufacturing, Flexco, SPENDRUP FAN Co., ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc., BENETECH, Martin Engineering and Laffey Equipment Company.During the exhibition, Optromix discussed the interest and reach an agreements with above-mentioned potential consumers.

The Year of Light, 2015 in Siberia


At the invitation of Nonlinear Photonics Laboratory of Novosibirsk National Research State University (Russia) Optromix took part in the international scientific seminar "All over the Light" The seminar is dedicated to The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, 2015.

The seminar was attended by prominent scientists of Russian origin:

Prof. Ildar Gabitov (University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ), Prof. Edik Rafailov (Aston University, UK), Prof. Boris Chichkov (Laser Zentrum Hannover, Germany), Dr. Alexandr Apolonskii (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany) and others.

At the seminar, we discussed the perspective photonics development directions and commercial prospects of the latest discoveries.

Optromix comes to Pacific


Optromix visit of SPIE Photonics West events has been very fruitful. We have reached an agreement with the agents network on the promotion in California and the West Coast. This means that Optromix customers will be able to schedule meetings and product demonstrations with great convenience.

Due to the growth of the agents network Optromix almost doubled the coverage of the US market. Taking into account the much higher potential of the West Coast market compared to East Coast the value of our target market has grown almost three times. Also we start new beneficial projects with our East Asian partners according to the agreements reached at SPIE Photonics West exhibition.

Optromix executives visited SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco to learn about the latest advances in laser industry and to introduce our new designs. One of them is a new system of distributed temperature sensor (DTS) for underground powerlines safety Trinius 540. We have made it easier to use and significantly reduced the price.
