Each year almost 2 million Indians suffer from air pollution and even die, herewith, weak air pollution control greatly decreases the lives of another 7 million annually. Thus, Bill Gates, concerned by the fast increase of lung diseases in India, suggests performing scientific research to detect the impact of air pollution on Indians together with the Indian Council of Medical Research.

To be more precise, the results of the research demonstrate that there is weak air pollution control in fact, and it affirms that 21/30 the most polluted cities are in India, and the government always denied this fact. Additionally, according to the research, about 2 million people in India die from breathing the air caused by air pollution and bad air treatment each year, and another part of the population suffers from a crucial reduction of their lives annually.

It should be noted, that the Indian government admits not all problems with air quality, and it begins to perform air treatment actions to make the situation better. For instance, wood as fuel (that is responsible for 30% of the air pollution in India and leads to such diseases as asthma, lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and death) has been replaced by a less dangerous one.

The thing is that proper air pollution control is also required in the transport industry, which is regarded as the largest source of outdoor air pollution in India because of the use of diesel fuel as well as diesel generators. Moreover, these generators are widely applied by 80% of industries resulting in a worse environment in the country.

Even though India adopted air pollution control standards similar to the one being employed in Europe, it will greatly decrease air pollution, however, such regulations are not sufficient to overcome the current problem resulting in the health aggravation of all Indian population.
